i just buy 2 gb of ram recently to add up 4 gb of ram for my com. but after i put in the ram ,start the com but system show only 3.25 gb of ram. then for my another com i put in 2 pcs 2gb of ram but start up time only 2.5 gb of ram . but i remove 1 pcs 2 gb and put in 1 pcs 1 gb of ram the system show 3,XX of ram .why is that so ? can anyone pls enlight me of this problem.
ur probably using a 32 bit version of windows.
only if you are using a 64-bit edition of windows xp or windows vista ultimate then u can see more than 4gb of memory. or else, out of all the memory u put in, only up to 3.2gb of memory can be accessed. the rest is used for sharing of other programs.
32 bits com sometimes detect the maximum ram is 3.5gb sometimes its not the right ram in terms of ddr2 and stuff like that.
any suggestion to put in 4 gb of ram as it shows only 2.5 gb or use 3gb of ram which show 3 gb of ram ?
Do a window update..make sure your window is up to date
how ever if ur m/b bios come with this function u can enable it, but in windows it will still be 3.25 or watsoever\
nortbridge/memory remap/ enable.
Most likely it's due to a Windows limitation, but an outdated hardware firmware can also cause similar effects.
