This happened just a few weeks ago, I get the blue screen of death with the error message: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL whenever I connect my external harddisk to my laptop (Windows XP sp3). The computer automatically reboots after that but I have to quickly pluck out the USB cable since my computer refuses to boot with my external harddisk connected to it.
It only happens with my external harddisk; no problems with my thumbdrive. However my external harddisk is fully functioning and doesn't cause any problems when I connect it to another computer.
How do I fix this? Is reformatting the only way out?
looks like something is conflicting with another driver.
sometimes my ATi graphics driver throw out this msg when im playing games, some code conflicted with the driver.
if u have access to another computer, pop ur hard drive in and check if that happens on he other computer.
No problems with other computers...
