Hi guys, I wanna add additional ram to my acer travelmate 4285.
But, how do determine the max. amount of ram it can support?
Any shops to recommend at SLS?
you can try using the 'scan my system' tool from this website to find out how much ram you can support. When buying ram, you can go to sim lim to find out the best prices to get. kingston ones will be good since they have life time warranty.
Thanks!
The result abit bo zhun leh. =/
when i do the scan, it say max can up to 2 gb, but when i search using ram memory advisor, it says can up to 4gb
can anyone help?
Usually computer can hold up to 4GB ram. But unless its 64bit.
what is your operating system
Vista business
bought my laptop last april
I looked up my user guide and this is what it says.
"Up to 2GB of DR2 533/567 Mhz memory, upgradeable to 4 GB using two soDIMM modules ( dual channel support)"
What does it means ?
Thanks for the help

think should be that each slot can support up to 2GB memory module of DDR2-533/DDR2-667. the motherboard of ur laptop can support up to 4GB by inserting two 2GB module in each slot.
btw can i mix 1gb ram stick with 2X256mb ram sticks or mix with any combos between 1gb,512 and 256 ram sticks?
if ur mobo isnt dual channel then u can.
if its like mine, where i have 4 slots, must fill 2 slots at a time, each with exactly the same memory, (e.g. 2X512MB and 2X1GB to make total of 3gb ram)
if u dun have dual channel, u can insert for example 2gb stick + 512mb stick to make 2.5gb ram
