Hey, i'm buying a new gaming computer.
But i know nothing abt computer parts whether which one is good/bad, wat should i get and the price.
My budget is abt 1k - 1.2k
I have got the LCD screen, mouse and keyboard.
I just need the Cpu casing and the thing necessary inside :D
Like Graphic cards, Ram, motherboard, fan, CDrom and i dunno le :/
And i would also like to check abt the microsoft (XP, Vista, Home and mayb more) :/
Must i really buy a new one for my computer??? Cause its quite expensive
And please share with me ur ideas on the parts and casing i should get :/
Thanks and <3
Gaming com ehh......
I'd suggest getting a fast Quad-core. Its future-proof, if ya got the money, get a Core i7.
For Graphic Cards, it depends. If you are a serious gamer, get a 9800 GTX+, a 8800 Ultra, or ATi HD4870X2. But considering budget, a 9600GT is quite good too.
For HDD, what size do you want?
For RAM, get a 2GB Corsair Dominator or something. Its no use getting 4 GB unless you are a 64-bit OS user.
Motherboard, Have Intel, and Nvidia chipset. I think VIA also have, but not too sure.
Note that these are just suggestions. You don't have to follow this. (I'd probably bust your budget)
Please define your gaming needs. If your gaming is Neopets, please don't waste money to build another PC unless it's old (more than 5 years old)
a 8400 with asus(1st year 1-1) or msi(1st n 2nd years 1-1) mobo.
4850 GPU if budget allowed, get a 4870 DK or palit
500/640GB HDD
2x2gb value RAM(since price so cheap now)
LG 22X DVD-RW
Can get the PCPC PSU, a new model modular 5 years 1-1
Any Chasis with good air flow.
my chasis has the best airflow.
i removed the cover.
Plz tell us what you plan to do with it including games you are gonna play.We can suggest a good config.
check with pc zone.. they have a upgrading package.. where by u trade in and they give u a pc at a low price
a pc built for running crysis isnt justifiable if ur gonna play WoW on it..

I plan to play Starcraft 22: Return of the BattleCruiser MX1879 and Warcraft 87: Defense of the Futures.
Must buy GeForce99999999999999999999999 to run.
(I am darn bored at werk)
yea you can easily get a good gaming com with 1.2k. if you have asked 3 weeks earlier, I could have told you what to buy, as i've just built a com myself. anyway, to get a gaming com, you will have to get a ddr3 ram compatible motherboard (not many in the markets), a GeForce 9400GT graphics card (since it has 1gb ram) and a good cooling system (i recommend cooler master casings). For the chipset, any quad core or core 2 duo E8400 chip will do (i do not really prefer quad core as its not very stable now).
Also depending on whether you're getting a display... A basic 18" LCD can set you back $200~ish, scrapping that idea can give you extra option...
As for Gpu, go for ATi's 48xx, in most cases better than 9800GTX of similar pricing...
1.2k sure not enough for i7 core... Mobo+i7 940 basic only $1k++ liao...
Since you're quite unsure of what you want, maybe you can consider those PCs offered by those sls shops... 1.2k can stretch...
If you buy those package, xp home is abt 120/130 while vista basic starts at about 130/140 (I nvr check)...
Oh and skip the GF9400gt thingy, in 1yrs time you'll hate it... gaming recommended 9600GT and up...
9600GT is the best in its price range. You top up like $20-30 can get 9600GT rather than 9400GT. Actually, 9500GS pwns the 9400GT, but never seen 9500GS in shops, so good bet is just 9600GT. Or if can, 9500GT in SLi.

Yeah, i agree, for a <$200 card it's good (Lower idle/load power requirement too), but i'll rather shell out extra 50 to future proof.
Eitherways, since he's got the budget, a better card(most likely more ex) makes sense...
Or go for 4830/4670, both good cards for lower pricing...
