Ok fellas, some help needed
I'm using a HP pavilion dv6000, and there is a problem with the speakers. there's totally no sound at all. just happened about an hour back. closing a tab on firefox when it hanged, next thing i knew, no more sounds

Please elaborate further. Did you receive any errors?
Have you tried restarting the computer? Does it work after that?
Operating system please if there's any errors received.

Hi black dot
mine is after repair the laptop, they gave me a diff sound driver or sth lidat, the audio sounds dreadful now.
Which is which, no sound from laptop or no sound from external speakers?
Try isolating the problem whether is it laptop or external speakers problem.
Unconnect external speakers from laptop, set sound volume to mid-range or max range, then try play back mp3 using a media player of your choice.
If there is no sound from your laptop internal speakers, then chances are there is a resource conflict in your windows settings, corrupt sound driver or your laptop's audio processor chip is spoilt.
If there is sound from your laptop internal speakers, then problem maybe is at the external speakers. Just connect the external speakers to another PC / laptop and you will know.
apparently, this problem is only in Vista. when using XP, the speakers (internal and external) work just fine.
yes. i have restarted the computer many times. no use at all.
while using vista, there is no sound whatsoever, external speakers plugged in or not.
Driver problem.Go to device manager, remove audio drivers and install it form the driver CD you got with system.
update teh driver.
i got my conexant one back, sounds much better than the dreadful windows generic driver.
