Earlier on my little brother was playing games with the computer and all of a sudden the computer just shuts down. After which when i tried to on the computer, it gave no reaction at all ; no lights, no fans, no anything. After which when i tried changing the power supply wires, i tried oning and it gave a short light and went off.
I tried vacuming the fans and the insides but to no avail the problem still persist. Could this be a problem of short circuit? If so, if i wanna fix it how much would it cost me?
Maybe overheat of PC....did the game minimum requriement match ur com...?
Definitely.
Graphic card is spoilt lah.
Just shut down or blacked out? I think it is due to the power supply.
he said nothing at all. fans didnt even spin.
cant be gpu burn cause such chaos.
im htinkin PSU.
Aiyah, playing computer games for a long time and these games are very graphic intensive, so the graphic card got burnt/spoilt. Once the graphic card is spoilt/burnt, it causes a short-circuit and so the whole computer black out lah.
short circuit, not really.
im not sure if i can relate this to my laptop since theyre both diif platforms (laptop, desktop, u know what i mean)
but still, i fried the graphics card on my laptop somehow, the screen split into 8 parts, but it still functions normally, despite the inability to really see anything.
if CPU temp not a problem, check your power supply or try to replce 1
I have encounter this problem before too. Power on for less den a sec and will shut off. I thought that it was my mobo, and i even bought a new one, but still cant make it work. Finally I found a psu to change, and it work again.
So my guess is that your psu kaput liao. PSU kaput will not have any burn smell. If not, try to find some friends who have some spare parts like graphics card, ram, psu and mobo, and do a part by part check.

your laptop graphic card is slightly damaged lah, so you can still see that the screen spilt into 8 parts but when the graphic card is burnt/spoilt totally, you cannot see anything lah.
Tortoise55 has suggested the part by part check method which is very useful to identify the problem.
Very likely that the power supply was damaged. Get a qualified person to trouble shoot and repair.
is the led light on the mobo lighted up?
quite unlikely to be mobo ba..
your computer overheated .
If you can smell a burnt smell definately you burnt something. There's a high chance that your PSU's dead. If you want to chance your psu, the price depends on the brand of the psu. If you get those good ones it's gonna cost you atleast 80bucks. If not those cheap ones would costs you somewhere around 30bucks. Do check the power rating (the watts) of your psu before buying a new one.
here's a consideration:
if u have upgraded your GPU recently, do make sure that the PSU was of the correct wattage.
and underpowered PSU may get stressed and eventually up lorry
Just now when i tried to change the wire , the computer on for awhile and i managed to get to desktop , all the graphics no problem, but then i went to the toilet then suddenly auto shut down again.

What for? ppl are telling you what are the possible causes as you request... you think that we are technicians who can solve the problem by calling you??? or you looking for some companionship?

"What for? ppl are telling you what are the possible causes as you

The strangest thing is that after i left my psu to cool for a little while , i was able to on my computer and it didn't off after even 5 hours.
