portable external hard disk

  i thinking of buying an external harddisk for my lappie @ the coming sitex. but there seems to be alot of diff models n all? so i m quite confused as to which brand n model to buy n wat things to look out for. any suggestions or reccommendations?

  i m looking for those 2.5" n plug n play type. erm.. hopefully i got the terms right? haha. plug n play means those tt use usb cable to trf data right? no nid power adapter de..then 2.5" is the size of the hdd? >< then i read some ppl mention sth abt casing.. when u buy the hdd it doesnt come wif casing? omg... i so blur le.. ><

  budget wise, hopefully not too exp lah. not sure wat capacity i shld get. maybe 160gb? is tt engh?

  oh, one last qn, can i install programmes in external hdd? like games or sth n install in the external hdd. it will run when i plug in the external hdd right?

  P&P means no need to install driver or s/w to run the device
  yes, use USB cable to transfer from laptop to ext hdd
  
  nowadays the ext hdd comes with casing oredi
  somemore got many patterns one

  wat are u going to store?
  im using 80gb and there is still 40% of space left
  some ppl using 250gb still complain not enough

  hmm.. i guess jus store some impt files n pics n songs n movies n anime? haha..

  so can i install programmes like games in external hdd? cos if can, then i think will lessen the amt of things in my hdd then wont lag the com so much..

  any brands/models reccommendations?

  if budget below 100 can get how big de?

  Yep, you got the terms right.

  2.5" Hdd do not require a power adaptor. Just plug and play like a normal thumb drive.

  Yep, you are able to install programmes, games ect.

  
  <$100, umm not to sure. probably 120GB

  2.5" means 2.5" hdd. - the size of the hdd

  2.5" hdd does not require an electrical source.

  3.5" hdd requires an electrical.

  Erm... me using 320gb but now left like near to 0 gb...

  Anyway, it would depends what you wanna store ba... a normal samsung hdd is quite cheap like around 150sgd for 320gb with casing. 3 years warranty for hdd as well.\

  Me keep like *ahem* games, movies, photo, music, installers in my hdd... and I am craving for more storage...

  my lappie hdd only got 80gb. not fully filled but is quite slow so thinking of storing stuff n progs somewhere else. haha. maybe consider 320gb. see the price how bah. lol.

  hmm.. maybe i go walk walk n see on thurs then buy on wkend bah. haha.

  hmmm.. the WD my passport essential shown at their website is available at sitex hor? i did a search at the price guide at the other forum n i found passport essential and passport essential II. wat's the diff btw them? cos the wd website only got passport essential?...

  n does the hdd comes wif pouch or do we have to buy separately? they wont gif as freebie hor? haha..

  i thinking of buying tmr le.. lazy to go back on another day n scare the things i wan oos.. but i think 1st day they wont throw in freebies?

  WD Passport is available in Singapore.

  First day hardly got freebies. Maybe a little discounts. Never tio tok very good liao.

  HDD prices are falling... 150 bucks should get you a decent one.

  150 can get WD passport essential 320gb? according to the price guide shld be ok bah.. cos lowest i saw was 145.

  got seagate 500gb in the end. way way way over my budget but 320gb de no pouch =(

  oso wd de doesnt look so nice? lolx. maybe it's jus the sample lc bah.. haha.. but it doesnt have the colour i wan n i dun really wan to settle for other colours. lolx.
