For Windows Vista users
1) go to > power Options > change plan settings> Change advanced power settings> power processor management
Regardless of which power plans u using, choose min 5% for min and max 80% processor state.U may want to keep the maximum performance power plan intact
2) go to > power Options > change plan settings> advanced> Wireless Adapter Settings> power Saving Modes
Regardless of which power plan u using, choose Maximum Power saving on both battery and plugged in.U may want to keep the maximum performance power plan intact.
3) Disable unnecessary vista services , go to> Start search for "services" in the type box. Disable unnnecessary services
These steps have made my notebook go down a whopping 10-15*C and ram usage is down to 500MB!
*note - Depending on your CPU type and speed, results may vary or u may need to adopt a more conservative power plan setting.
-Generally high speed end cpus like the core 2 duo will have no or little impact on performance with the above settings but resulting in a much safer and cooler temperature to system health.
-Older Cpus may expereince some performance degradation but will reduce in temp as well for a safer and cooler temperature to system health.
Please post yr results here if it is working for you.
