Hi,
would like to know what could be the probable causes that the modem signal is weak? (okay i don't know what's the proper description terms) but the lights on my modem keeps flickering and when i use my laptop the internet connection goes on and off...

best to call singtel ask them send technician over.
last time i called them, they kept sending phone technician, for like 3-4 times they checked and found no problems.
it's only when they send those networking technician over that they got the problem resolved, seems like my entire cable from house to singnet was screwed, they changed it and i haven't had any problem since.

lol...i am using StarHub too. got it around the same period as you, in the 1500kbps times. urs is the PC/Activity keep blinking? if that is so, dunnid to change. it is very usual for it to blink. if it don't blink then got something wrong.

ya so its ok ah but blink damn fast sia sometimes ok quite slow but recently keep flashing at extreme speeds...and when it does so, FireFox lags quite badly...
so conclusion is call singtel/starhub?
call service provider to ask.

You're one lucky guy I should say.
There were once I called singnet several times due to my brand NEW mio router keeps getting disconnected. Guess what? Those freaking guys refused to send someone down, insisting there is no problem on their side. So what about my side?

mio at the beginning a lot of people also say got lots of problems. Singtel people also dumb one lar. insist on their own ideas. ask them go home sleep better.
i got many previous bad experience with singtel ADSL. maybe due to my subscribtion is the cheapest. so the service level also sucks. it is a common problem for ADSL signal to blink especially there are more then one phone in the house. you will need to trouble shoot yourself first before calling singtel for support. disconnect all the phones at home and check that if the problem persist. make sure you did your part. else singtel will ask you to check again and it is wasting precious time. if singtel still refuse support. talk to the technical help desk. the service level is much better.
for starhub, cable modem will spoil eventually. previously i had spoil three modem coz i switched on 24 hrs.
