Mouse is acting up!

  I'll smash my mouse to smithereens if I have a hammer.

  The mouse's left click is cranky.

  If I click on something and release the left mouse button, the mouse behaves as though I am holding down the left mouse button so it ends up as a click and drag.

  If I want to click on a URL, I have to double-click.

   

  Everything else works fine if I use Mousekeys.

  Should I replace the mouse?

  Have already done that. Thanks for the very smart tip, however belatedly it was offered to someone not as IT-savvy as yourself.
