but do you really get 5.1 surround as you do on normal 5.1 speakers?

nope. its just a really wide soundstage thats all. the add on woofer was a letdown though, i found it weak and wanting more after my test. note that my test was conducted at home in my room, and not in a shop in a mall, where results would be disputable. the set isnt very powerful though, and although not much distortion was observed when being pushed hard, the sound seemed a bit funny when pushed. midrange response was slightly thin, but the add on sub was aiding to it, meaning that the sub was playing some fuzzy midrange along with the main set.
its not a bad choice, considering u really got a wide soundstage with something this cheap, its like the cheap alternative to those yamaha or philips soundbars out tehre, just like a toyota camry is the poor man's merc benz
link to the sonic gear webby here if you want it
I tink they call it a soundbar, it actually produce the sound and point it towards a wall, so it reflects to the front, thus it seems like it is a 5.1 surround. If your room is really a perfect square, u can use that, as there is somthing to reflect the soud off
if there isnt any wall at the back, the 5.1 will not sound like it, probably it will sound like the centre speaker instead
oh ya, this kind of speaker cannot blast
what's with speakers ?

under my influence mah
i would say that it's quite nice a speaker set. looks good, the sound needs a bit of adjusting before it gets to one's liking, and it really helps if the source is a bit 'spirited'. my dell inspiron really makes the speaker shine while my ipod makes it produce a limp sound. I had to fidget quite a bit with the bass and treble setting on the system and also on the bass level on the subwoofer unit to get 'the' sound. in the end, norah jones vocal really shines, jazz and western classical sounds excellent and even the occassional dance numbers sound good. anything that has a good voice or midrange is really nice on this speaker, it has only stereo input, but quite a few of them for connecting multiple staff.
