buy altec lansing. none of these are actually.... worth it..
the cheaper the better, actual some high power speaker will cause damage to your sound card
the SG evo's are actually the divoom revo's.. and both of them have lousy woofer cabinet designs, bandpass ones. well-built bandpass boxes sound good, but both of these have stupendous amounts of distortion, especially noticeable in the divoom one.. the 767 one just isnt worth it..
if your budget is below $100, go check out the altec lansing VS2321. its really exceeding expectations. if u've got a budget over $100, get the MX5021.

high powered speakers wont damage a sound card, unless you plug its outputs to the sound card's outputs.. but that has a very low chance of happening since the amps very rarely (i know a certain i-con cheapo speaker does use the headphone jack as output to its speakers) use the minijack to output signal to its speakers, and the wattage isnt really enought to fry a card.

it happen to me, at first i use a good speaker, then my sound card integrated in the motherboard was damaged, so i buy a new sound card, then using a cheap speaker, then done

u probably had some circuit in the speaker's amp or the mainboard shorted. but even then, its a really isolated case. i've been using an altec lansing MX5021 on my PC for years now. its a rather high end PC stereo and i havent had anything happen to it or my PC so far. anyway, getting an expensive sound card and pairing it with cheapo cans doesent do it any justice
ic thx
Why not hook it up to ur home audio?
i am doing that, u can find the headphone jack output to the red and white sound cable
im using onboard sound unfortunetly....
Gigaworks are the best!
edifier is a good brand. its speakers mostly exceed expectations, given its cheap pricing, and it gives much more than expected. however, dont actually expect sound you'll hear from $10k systems, that isnt happening anytime soon.
it is, though, a much wiser choice compared to the creatives and sonic gears / divooms out tehre.

got hissing? me using the realtek azalia HD sound, the hissing sound very prominent on my MX5021. the sound disappears when i shutdown the PC O.o
actually depends on your room size.
if yours is just a small small bedroom with your computer, a total output of 50 W, lets say, your subwoofer is 25W, den each Satellite speaker is about 12 w, den should be more than enough.

but then again, thinking about it from another point of view, wattage and room size isnt all. having higher powered systems means when the need arises, they can be pushed without distortion, e.g., parties, or say, when the content has an extremely soft audio track. in times like these, the speakers can be pushed without worry of distortion. lower powered systems , however, may distort if caution is not exercised with the tone controls, if any.

but i beg to differ.
Your room size and the position of the speakers u put are equally important. While u would not put a Evo 7 in a big living room, u also will not put a 10K system in your tiny bedroom as it will not only cram your space but u also not letting it perform to its potential.

true, but how loud do you want if you put a very good speaker system in a tiny bedroom?
i am just speaking from the point of view of money and cost.
i probably wil be having parties in living room and not bedroom though, and i also will not recommend people to put their Evo 7 or similar sized speakers in their living room as it will distort the speaker and may damage it.

mine is a creative inspire T-7900, 7.1 surround. Total output 92W.
Super good for gaming but for listening and blasting music....well...not very good. LOL.
any idea how good is the Altec Lansing VS2421 speakers?

Mine no hissing, i tink the hissing might be because of clipping, i turn off all sound effects from the taskbar.
WIll it be becuase u overblast, thus the tweeter from the speaker clips?
i only have 4 speakers and 2 woofers, but they are quite loud.
Im usiing the BMB karaoke speakers, with 2 centre speaker for stronger vocals
my 2 woofers are both from infinity, 1 is 12" and the other is 10"
they are enough for my use

the satellites are crystal clear, very good at details, and i dont miss the lack of a speperate tweeter or HF driver in this one. however, crackling sounds will be heard if you play low quality songs on the system. the woofer on the oher hand, has a weaker "punch" than the VS2321, but sounds more refined.

its not clipping. its due to interference from some components or shielding wasnt done properly. its a high pitched "ssssssssssssssssss" that u sometimes hear on cheap hi-fi, but in this case, its not my speakers, as when i turn off the PC, the hissing disappears. it shows that my integrated audio card is the cause of all this.
anyway, ive used to have an "r/d/s" brand sub sitting in the living room, its loud, it plays low, its got a 15" driver, but it doesent really sound that refined. and not to mention it looks like a Borg Cube. :P i just sold it off last month.

hmm, maybe my speaker planning was a bit off eh. :P
you see, im using a 90W one in a small room, and a 75W total FX6021 in the living room. but i dont have difficulties filling the whole hall with sound, maybe its due to 6 1" drivers sitting in each satellite :P

the bass seems very boomy in the 120-100Hz region.. i managed to get my hands on a test set from someone, and laid it out to test. i liked the satellite speakers, the sound was rather warm and such, but the woofer is
