for windows professional sp2, 32bit systems, 2gb would be enough. Yes, youyayu is right, when you have 4gb, you will only see 3gb listed up in your bios ect. No, no one's cheated you but it's a restriciton of 32bit systems. If it's 64bit, then yea. you can see your 4gb
use this to test: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/CPU-Z.shtml (cpu z) though most laptop rams are ddr2.
it doesnt matter about the mhz part. if yours can only support up to let's say give a number like 200mhz type of ram, you can still use a 667mhz ram, your laptop will just mark it down to the max speed that it can support. but you must make sure that the 667mhz ram is of the same ddr
Detached, 32-bit OS can only read about 3gigs of ram. However, depending on your system setup (graphics card etc.), extra ram might be helpful but certainly, wouldn't hurt.

not much variation.
roughly 2x to max 3x. for 1gb. unless it's a ddr3 ram - which is freaking axe at $150!
Gosh guys,
I'm thankful to recieve your help. How much would it cost me if I were to upgrade to 4gb?
Or should I just get a new laptop altogether? Considering my lappie is only a year old.
