which one will u prefer?
matt
glossy if place near window will have relfection hard to see
glossy surface can use screen agent to clear and will not have fingers or stain markings. Matt sometime cannot use cleaning agent to clean.
Glossy surface can buy those surface adhesive protector to block reflection. Like out handphone screen protector
yes the benefits of glossy screen far outweigh their negatives. Glossy has sharper, crisper and high contrast images.
glossy looks mroe classy too
i seem to notice, there are many varieties like Asus Colorshine, HP Brightview, Fujitsu Clearview, Toshiba Trubrite. Sony Xbrite.
Seems like only Sony , Asus and HP have the outstanding ones

i second that. no one really buy matted screens nowadays.
Glossy leh =D
Glossy screen not for prolong usage. I had a Samsung 2232GW (22 inch widescreen) which I bought last year, after using it for 4 months, I realised my eyes got dryer and hurts. I wanted to get an antiglare filter for it to reduce the glare, but they don't have reliable brands in production, ended getting a crappy brand Viewguard from USA, which I had to freight back to get refund.
I have since changed to a LG 20 inch (4:3) matte screen and added a 3M antiglare filter. Which I think it's redundant, because matte screen are not as glaring as the glossy screen, though glossy screen is glaring but it does have sharper images. These days I only use my glossy screen for viewing DVD movies.
**The 3M antiglare filter cost almost 1/2 the price of the monitor.
i am using a glossy screen and my eyes dont hurt. i think newer gen glossy screens have anti glare built in.

What brand and model are you using?
HP brightview
i using laptop :)
Gloss screen on Comcrap (Compaq) 14.1 inch, place in-front/near of window, but not much of reflection, glare or anything. And have no problem seeing.
byw can gloss screen be cleaned with tissue paper and some window cleaner solution?
yes.
Anyways, i came across a very interesting thread in HWZ which showed that you can turn your glossy screen into a matt screen and a matt screen into a glossy one just via a flim. - not really that axe <$50. Those interested go find @ HWZ.
Glossy screen are generally semi hard compared to Matt screens which are well, have soft lcd panels - i learnt it the hard way though =(

suggest you use a microfibre cloth.
Microfibre or those spectacle cloth. I have no qualms using window cleaner solution but just note and try not to let anything drip inside any part of the laptop, it might cause a shock circuit.
Alternatively you can get those laptop/lcd screen cleaning wipes or liquids, which are less than $10 and comes with a cloth and a brush.
glossy is perfect for gaming
gaming, videos, entertainment. as colours are more vibrant
whilst for matt , it would be more for designers who would wish to see the correct tone of colour.

yes right, in glossy there is no "washed out" effect and has a wide viewing angle.
The things i hate about matt screen is it has a narrow viewing angle and colours get washed out when viewing multimedia.

can u link me in google regarding whats this about?
the viewing angle is with regards to the panel type.
btw how do i do a colour calibration on my notebook screen?. I have absolutely no idea.
if you don't know how to calibrate, then you are in the don't need to know category, only folks who deal in computer graphics need to do this.
