Ok first and foremost im not here dissing about Starhub. Im a really huge fan of Starhub and their services. Im using their mobile, cable tv and cable modem.(10 years of support)
But recently i changed from my old set top box (the smal black colour version) to their Hubstation. For the first year i experienced a lot of lagging, shows not recorded when i already set them to. But all solved after they upgraded the software. After the warranty ended, suay2 the thing crashed and totally died on me. So nvm i thought it was due to excessive tv watching from my family. Go to Hougang to fix the thing. however a few months later another problem the thing suddenly could not stop rebooting itself. So i went to hougang again to get it fixed. This time i spent a little longer in the shop coz die2 i wanted to get it back by today (weekends got EPL and our inaugural F1 race). To my horror people kept coming in and going out of the shop sending their Hubstation for repair. 90% had similar problems i faced with my hubstation (no power, could not stop rebooting) and all warranty expired. Then i realised that i was not alone with this problem.
I understand that this is the 1st version of the Hubstation so teething problems are definately expected. But its like day light robbery for them to sell to the consumers a ticking time bomb. I pity those fellas that actually paid for the hubstation ($400 or something like dat rite?) Luckily got mine for free so im not so fed up, just fed up that i dunno when my Hubstation is gonna fail me again (hopefully not during a BIG EPL game). And plus my contract ending in October. Hoping Starhub could offer me something enticing to continue my support for them or else i cabot to MIO or watch online. hehe
I hope Starhub cleans this mess up with a new version of the Hubstation.
