I had upgraded to 3mbs plan 2 mths ago. I had been having problems with bittorrent.
My old d/l spd was about 100kbs. After this plan upgraded, it sometimes went up to 300kbs. However my BT client software will return an "Disk Overload 100%" error. D/ling will drop to a mere 10-20kbs.
There is more than sufficient disk space available. I had tried restricting max d/l speed in BT client to 250kbs, and later to 150kbs. But the error still occurs. Had anyone encountered this issue before or knows how to recitify it?
I had also read about some forumers here posting about restricting upload speeds to 80% of the plan's max upload spd. I am wondering do we then need to restrict our download spd to a certain percentage too?
What BT client are you using?
bittorent 6.0
If it helps,
Max global connections =500
Max number of connected peer per torrent =200
Max num of active torrents =25
Max num of downloads = 25

From uTorrent's (which I, myself am using and was bought over in 2006 by the company who made your BitTorrent 6.0 client) FAQ:
This means that the disk was not able to keep up with the read/write speed. To fix this, you can change the options in Disk Cache.
However, if this happens when adding a torrent, it is normal, and due to a design limitation in µTorrent, which will be fixed in the future, not because your disk is actually overloaded. It will disappear after a few minutes.
(1.6 and later) While the defaults should work fine, even up to 100Mbit, you may want to alter the disk cache options. You will find the options in Advanced -> Disk Cache. To see the current cache use, look at the Speed tab, and choose Disk Statistics from the drop-down list.
So, are you running something disk-intensive while torrenting? If not, it may be due to the fact that your HDD is slow/dying, or incorrect configuration of the memory cache settings. You may want to try the settings shown in the screenshot below.
