HP's standard has dropped, their products used to be good.. My desktop printer cum scanner cum photocopier breaks down for no good reason. Before they prompt for upgrading still working well, worked normal. After I upgraded thru their prompting the whole machine is not working at all, printing sucks, printed whole page, print show faintly only a few words.
Don;t buy HP products including their cartridge, really suck.

Now I will think twice, think thrice before buying HP products.
Lousy design, you can consider not to buy their products. When did they change new boss?
iwas referring to their notebooks..not desktops...
the dv5 series looks promising. realy. @ 1699, student offer =]
is acer extensa good???
still, in my opinion, the one with the best service is Sony's service centre.
HP, depends on what you send in. Yes, they see products one. Business or home entertainment.
I have been using HP products for 2 years now. I would still say, quality is acceptable.
For it's pavilion range, it looks real cool and neat!
anti scratch coating ect. - really works. @ least for my dv2711tx.
Quality wise is middle - high. There are bond to be some hiccups along the way. or problems. You can't blame them for giving you a laptop with a faulty hdd, for the hdd is out sourced from another company. Tech products are all mass produced, mass produced = more likely prone to errors, problems.
It's all about perception. some folks will never have problems, while others, who might be the 1/100000 product
Customer service wise, call in(s) to it's helpdesk, is acceptable and quite good in my opinion, though i can only say that for notebooks, for i have only called them regrading my product.

they super cut cost so cut the corners at product development...
MOE did not use HP anymore....now use Acer, that shows that HP is lousy

MOE cutting cost too. probably they have a cutting deal with in terms of warranty service.
But many ppl are condemning HP, you have to looka the macro management of the company. where they fail. Asus shines,
Does anyone know where HP notebooks outsource their parts from?
I do know Asus supplies the mainboard to HP.

It varies from country to country, over here in australia, we have consumer rights and laws. Singapore nope.

Like what I said above, CQ is a new series. Somehow I feel it is influenced by some aspects of the HP Pavilion series and thats why it got the blue look.
So far I can only find this: Compaq CQ40-104TU - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3786404&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
