any registry repair software ?
Deleting the $Uninstall$ should have no effect on your system.

Please test your hard disk.

what to do now??
Originally posted by Aloozer:Ok, so I had itchy fingers last night and decided to delete manually some files so as to speed up the performance of my PC(it could be when i was mass-deleting the "$uninstall$" files, so i might have deleted other file types as well)
Problem
Now, during windows load-up, the hdd is very slow and it makes a cyclical sound when it is running/reads data. Like when the hdd led is red when it reads data, but now it is constantly red not like blinking or what.
So i tried reformatting and reinstalling windows, still it gives the cyclical, repetitive sound during windows operation. i begin to wonder if the hard disk itself could be spoilt(due to my being itchy fingers). and even in bios, with original settings, the hdd was master, now its slave. *shrug*
automatically went to slave on its own.
Please advise and help!
Thanks!!!
is jz ur hdd gng up lorry so go back up everything n find ur warranty...
but i cant backup cos the data in my partitioned drive seems like gone! cant be accessed.
or need i go to those people who can recover hdd data?
i just did chkdsk.
thing is, whenever i try to access d: in My Computer, it says "the disk in drive D is not formatted, do u want to format it now?"
then when i right-clicked Properties, it says total file size for my d: is 0 bytes
BrUtUs meant that your HDD is already dead. If I were you, I will quickly buy a new HDD and transfer as much data as possible to the new HDD. The more chkdsk you do now, the faster the HDD will die off.
yah i know what he meant but what im saying is, if my data cant be accessed at all, how am i gonna do that backup. thats all.
Boot up to Linux. Can you access your D drive?
Another thing. Please stop using chkdsk. The more you fix, the more irrepairable damage is done.
Download any Linux distro, burn it as a bootable disc and boot up to it. Try accessing your D drive with it. If you can see your D drive and data, back up the data.
ok nvm..i dunno anything abt linux
anyway, i just used some data recovery software available online and managed to just back them up and save to a thumbdrive.
LOL... Linux is very easy to use as compared to last time.
There are lots of easy ones. Look on Distrowatch. The most popular ones are the easiest to use.
