I bought NEC lappy in Jan this year. One of the main features is the on-site warrantly. Now I got the card read problem and email them about it. They tried to solve the problem through email asking me to download this and that.. when that failed, I called the hotline.. only to go through the whole process.. they tried to solve the problem though the phone. When they can't do it, they ask me to walk in for a check. They suspect it is my card is fautly and asked again for me to sent it in.
I protested as this is supposed to be "on site warrantly "... then they say " ok we will go, but if is your card adaptor is faulty or is your card got problem, they will charge me ".. I said it is fine and I am ok with it , they say better to walk in - no charge. I insisted they come and they made it very difficult to arrange.
As I will be at P Ubin, I want them to go there and they say it will see if they can fix in my appointment.. I wait for them to call now ....
Are you joking? or are you making life difficult for them?

It just cannot detect anything at all ... I used the standard SD card - one with 16 mb and another 128 mb ... both cannot read.. I tried using a 2 G card - I know it might not work as they did mention the lappy may not have the capacity... anyway, they called and say will call me again ... what I wasn't happy was the way they tried to avoid responsibilities and asked me to go to them instead ... if they had been nicer, I wouldn't mind ... I send in my old NEC to them before .. why can't I do it now ? Because they were bloody rude , that's way .. so " Fatone ", find out first before you cpcb . . ..

The guys there must have done a comprehensive check and dignostics. so i shall not repeat the steps.
was it able to work when you first get it? and when was the last time works? what did you do to it, maybe transfer files ect

only used it once, to transfer file, after that, no more ... then " kapoo "

they now suspect it my card adpator spoilt ... keep saying will charge me if the reader is ok ... i say ok lor ... because I tried more than five cards already .... anyway, they called me just now to make appointment to meet me on Wed .. let's see what they have to say first ... thanks for helping .... I only want to air out my un-happiness on their services . ..
Today, the technician came and do my lappy. They change the whole motherboard -free as it is still under warranty. I was told the toll free nos I called earlier was routed to Malaysia call centre ... no wonder I got so work up as they don't really understand the problem I tried telling them... no professional at all.
BUT
I am very happy with the SINGAPORE technician as he was very professional... check my system a few times round before confirming all is ok. He even found out my free ram upgrade got some problem....
I am happy now . ..
Cant blame them much, for these people
1) do not have much training
2) if they did have training, they are still unable to make a diagnostics, which even for mayi, lpx,latecomerx and other techmods from other forums have trouble too, cause we have not seen the problem in person and base it on our knowledge and experience.
3) Call centres have a standard lists of troubleshooting steps. like this this this for card reader problem ect.

They seem to forget that " on site " warrantly is for them to come to us, yet they asked me a few times to bring my lappy into the service centre...

lol ... you are cute ... anyway, they know what is on site mean .. because they warned me that if they found my memory card is at fault, they will charge me ... I am for it as I am very sure it is not my card problem . . .now I realised my key board is a bit cranky ... wonder if I have to go thru the whole process . . . .

A few of the keys get stucked on and off or needed to press harder to work ...
