Hi,
I have a desktop PC running on C2D 4300 and 2gb ram.I have two dvd writers on it.
But problem is whenever i burn a dvd or use dvd shrink,my computer runs very slow.
ie: the mouse cursor is like lagging.
I have another notebook running on C2D T7100 and 2gb ram but when i burn a dvd or use dvd shrink it does not slow down the computer to the extend even the mouse cursor is lagging.
May i know why am i experiencing this?Anyone can help?
Also,it takes almost double the time to burn a DVD on my desktop then on my notebook.
maybe cus ur desktop has a older dvd drive which runs slower than the one on ur laptop. it also cna be becos u set the settings to a slower write speed in the software. also, burning dvd involes making the image and converting file formats, compression, so and so. the cpu working harder so it slows down the response on other programs.
also ur desktop may have a weak graphic card. one point is the dvd shrink. compression and writing to dvd at the same time uses lot of processing power, much more than juz tat of dvd writing. the dvd shrink part is a big clue
My desktop was bought after my notebook. So guess the dvd drives should be about the same. And forgot to mention that i have a Geforce 7300GT graphic card.
I set both the write speed to 4X and to my surprise, the notebook requires 1 hour less to brun the dvd.
Different softwares? background running appplications ?
You will be surprised that some of the laptops nowadays come with better DVD/RW DVD Rom drives then those for PCs.
The CPUs you used might also make a difference in terms of the burning speed. The free space left on your HD might also be a factor in the slowness on your PC.
Like some of the guys might have already mentioned, you may be running more softwares on your PC, like Norton Antivirus (this will definitely slow down your burning) and other background applications.
Hope this helps.
