I recently have not been able to update my windows.
It keeps telling me windows office 2003 service pack 3 not installed.
Done the update manually still the same.Whats the problem?
Go to Services and make sure "Office Source Engine" service is running. It should be OK then. Always make sure this service is running before you update Microsoft Office.
To get to Services in Vista, press the Window button, in the search box, type "Services". You should see it then and you click on it. For XP, you need to go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools -> Services.
Or Start > Run and enter in services.msc
I had the same problem. Finally, I went to the Microsoft site to manually download the required update.
i changed the above setting to automatic aldy. But still cant leh.
Any idea why?

What is the Status of the service? Is it "Started" or blank? If blank, right click on it and click "Start". Setting it to automatic just means it will auto start the next time you start Windows.
Status is blank.I just enabled it to start. Will try again.Thanks.

use the link to access and download the required update.
Start->Run->type "cmd" and press the Enter key
type in the following commands. One at a time.
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll

regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
then try the windows update again.
Tried all of the above but still cant.Any other suggestions?
Maybe you can paste the error code here that you get after you tried to update from the the website.
