  Anyone knows the market rate to do up a personal homepage,maybe add in a shopping cart to sell some personal stuff?

  No but thanks for asking...I am looking at getting people to do the programming work though...wondering how much it would cost....simple website with a shopping cart...nothing complex.

  Take a look at OsCommerce http://www.oscommerce.com/ if you don't want to spend any money to create the website.

  But you will still need to spend money for hosting/domain/payment gateway.

  yes, zencart is a more advanced offshoot of OSCommerce actually .....

  No wonder both look so similar. Zencart does look a bit more polished compared to OSCommerce and less bloated.

  actually, Zencart is more bloated....

  many third party components are interchangeable between them actually .... the structure's pretty similar
