Hi there, i need some help of removing the HDD from my desktop CPU. I heard that it can just remove and use it in other computer. But can i plug into laptop also?. And also im quite confuse where is it. Does any have site with any photo on tutorial abt the CPU ?.
Thanks a million! (:
No, you can't plug it directly into a laptop because of the difference in form factor (physical size). But you can always get an external casing for it and connect the HDD to your laptop via USB.
ohh, how abt placing into another computer?. hmmm, where is the HDD and ram located?. please help!
U must see what type of HDD it is, nowadays people are using SATA2. U need to see what is connected to the back of the HDD
1. There would be a cable, 4 pins for the power, which is called the molex
2. There would be another cable, if it is wide in width and flat, probably ur HDD is a IDE
3. If it is just a normal thin cable, ur should be a SATA HDD, it is written on the Hardisk itself
4. if u plug out the hdd, make sure when u plug into the other comp, u must plug the wire into the hdd and the motherboard(very hard to find the plug), not recommanede if u are not sure where it is located
The harddisk is located at:
1. slide open ur case, and look inside.
2. On the top right hand corner, u should see ur CD/DVD drive, now, look down to the bottom left hand corner of ur case, u should see a rectangular shape object that is shiny and covered in metal, look for a pic on the net for HDD. U cannot miss it
The RAM is located on the motherboard. The motherboard is the big big circuit board which takes up almost the other half of the casing.
that is the RAM, the look maybe different, my RAM is fitted with a heatsink, the normal one would just be a green circuit board
the orange thing is my CPU cooler, i installed it wrongly, dun mind it, and i change it to the correct position alraedy

The RAM module(s) seemed to be obscured by the wires. And the HDD looks out of place.
