hello... my macbook pro is about 1.5 years old. and the current battery life when fully charged displays around 1h 40+mins when i put the settings to best energy performance and half of the brightness bar. Kinda sux because w/o running for long, i gotta find a power source already.
how can i resolve this problem? get a new battery so at least i'll get the 4-4.5h battery life APPLE claims? or is it the problem of my macbook pro itself? and the thing is im not covered under warranty.

i think the 4-4.5hr is bluff one la.. they on the comp, use the battery saving, lowest performance setting and off the screen and leave it running and nobody touch and watch it die..
all mp3 and laptop and what have you batteries all like that one..
hmm actuallythe claim is true. i did net surfing with the wifi on and mid brightness and my macbk pro did last 5 hrs plus, almost 6 hrs. so the battery life is indeed good. but i shld think the battery pack is v ex as like all apple products.

Qns:
1. What apps did you turned on?
2. What apps are running in the background?
3. MBP is at least a duo-core and it needs more juice to do just even powering it up.
4. Your MBP battery is already 1.5 yr old. If you use it daily and heavily, it'll weaken like everything on earth.
5. You didn't say your MBP is a 15" or 17". The bigger the greater the power sapping.
6. Did you maintain your battery with complete drain and full charging?
As a consolation, my G4 Power Book is 7 year old and the sole original battery can still last 1hr.
1.5 year old liao is laidat one lar...
buy a new batt lor..
can last at least 3 hours

2. airport?
5. mine's a 15"
6. complete drain and full charging not consistently practised.
so how shld i go about resolving the problem?
Batt life shortens with use...
battery can normally live for 2-3years approx... depends how you use it....

Complete drain and full charging is a myth. It has even been proven by myth busters, full charging and complete drain only works in ni-mh cells. MBP uses a Li-ion cell so it is not affected.
Although you can try to follow the below instructions, it is no guarantees to work because this was the instruction to follow for first time usage of the macbooks.
You are recommended to fully charge the battery so that the battery is able to "reset" it's max capacity before draining it until the warning pops up, save everything and wait for it to go into sleep mode. Leave it for another 5 hours or so to completely drain the battery before connecting the magsafe adapter to fully charge it, you may use it while it's charging.
hmm.. sorry to sort of hijack TS's thread.. but will battery life be affected if i use ac power and the battery is inserted..? do i nid to remove the battery..?
mine is juz a normal laptop.. not macbook..
