Hi
Can I know what is the difference between skype phone and voip phone.
If I have a phone that support voip for example Nokia E65, is it the same as skype phone since both of them relying on wifi to talk.
How abt the charges from telco, is it the same also?
THanks in advance.
charges ain the same.
Take for eg: skype
http://skype.com/intl/sv/prices/callrates/
and
media ring talk
http://www.mediaringtalk.com/rates.html
This is for Voip to home telephone.
If not, for voip to voip, it's free.
if i not wrong skype phone is using VOIP also.. just that the phone connects to the router or viaa phone port of a modem.(in this case its wirelessly). instead of u using a PC or a MAC to call using VOIP
skype and voip are basically similar to one another except that skyp uses their own protocol to communicate and requires a PC.
a voip phone only requires an internet connection.
pple use that to reduce the IDD calls. So price wise will differ.
skype to skype call is free.
starhub has voip phone that uses internet to make calls to local lines. Free 018 to certain countries and there is a monthy charges. Free if you subscribe max online.

eh..actually what I meant is Skype phone, not the skype software run on computer.
Thanks for your reply.
ic, so both the skype phone and voip phone rely on the wifi to make call.
Then if there is no wifi connection, can it make use of the 3G technology to establish an internet connection using mobile network? by right I think should be possible, that is how the starhub and M1 mobile broadband work. If so theoretically the skype phone and voip phone should be able to make voip call anywhere. What you guys think?
Another question, can a PDA phone run skype since PDA phone can run computer software.
In UK there is skype mobile phone and it work perfectly well for the user to make skype call.
for wifi skype phone and 3G skype phone these are two different phones. wifi is more stable then 3G.
for PDA on skype, it can work except that you may not get quality voice call.
