Using openSUSE 10.3. I like xfce more than gnome as it is fast.
Problem is I cannot have a pure xfce system, because if i delete the entire gnome-desktop thingy now, i'll crash the system and land up at command line (CLI).
Neither can I install w/o gnome (selecting xfce) because I get the old-style login screen after installation and something like gvwm as window manager. then unable to activate xfce after using YaST2...
Same as fedora. Remove gnome, crash system, regardless of whether you have xfce installed.
Can someone help? I'm not too familliar with editing all those /etc/fstab kind of files... and I want to try avoiding a reinstallation (takes 1.5-2 hours on 10mbps SingNet broadband)
Thanks! ;D

nvr mind, thanks anyway. shifted to mandriva liao.
