My LCD screen got burnt out. A "pop" sound and the screen completely blacked out without any response.
I'm wondering if it is possible for the LCD screen to be repaired..
And does afking with the computer screen off while allowing the computer to run cause the screen to wear out at the same rate as leaving the screen and CPU on together?
I frequently leave my computer on with the screen off when I'm downloading stuff..
Any opinions on this?
Not worth repairing, might as well get a new one.
What brand LCD was yours?
Normally I auto power off monitor after 3 mins.
huh, leaving the com on with the lcd off will affect the lcd meh? never heard of that before.
and i'm always doing that. lcd still kicking strong.

Should be 2 years warranty right?
I got mine recently 1+1.
Maybe you should follow what kenneth said, check the fuse in the plug to see if it's burnt.

is it? heehee. come to think of it I did get both monitors during promotion.
I have another Samsung which is like 7-8 years old and it still works fine. I leave it on most of the time every night.
Lcds dont normally die, with a pop, CRT monitors do (those box kind)
Maybe it has nothing to do with the LCD, but something in there fused or something like that...
Might be one those flat screen CRT monitors.
MOST LCDS ARE COVERED WITH A THREE YEARS WARRARTY
your LCD monitor got power or not? try to change the power cord...

I am using philips LCD wide screen monitor and it's still work pretty well.
For your case, it might be striked by lightning. Such cases do happen many.
Please do the following.
Check your system unit got power or not.. if yes, check your lcd monitor and power cord (if lightning, the power cord will have a burning smell).. if the system unit can't work, this can be a serious problem. your power supply might be faulty and cause other hardware to be faulty too...
holy shit dudes, i switched the power cable to an old one and viola! it works!
guess my power cable messed up..
thanks alot guys
btw, im using the cable with 250v/13A, whereas the old one wad 250v/16A, will it affect anything?
anyone can think of a reason why my cable poped?
it was definitely not raining yesterday night..
could it be due to overusage?
my lcd screen seems like die out... screen keep getting darker and darker then one day it went so black dat i can barely see the word how come?
