How to have this effect in Adobe Photoshop CS3?

  Hi people,

  May i ask how do u create this effect for a photo in Adobe Photoshop CS3?

  

  The border of the original photo(stock photo in XP) has been change to translucent type.

  I only know that this can be done in Microsoft Word 2007 and i cant find it in Photoshop.

  Your help is appreciated since this effect will be used in one of my assignment.

  right click layer

  u have ur whole list of options there.

  The last post of the forum thread below should be of help to you. Note that the feather size can be adjusted via the second toolbar from the top after selecting one of the Marquee tools.

  1. press ctrl- a ( cmd-a for mac) <--- at this step, its the same as select>all

  
  2. press alt-ctrl-d( apple-cmd-d for mac)<-----at this step, its the same as select>modify>feather.

  3. press ctrl-shift-i ( cmd-shift-i for mac)<--- at this step is same as select>inverse

  
  4. input the feather radius u want. eg 10.

  
  5. press delete and u are done

  draw a border using polygon. apply gaussian blur.
