At first I thought it was some kinda joke... like making fun of Odex or something.
Then I actually saw this and the sh!t storm it stirred up at HWZ Forums.
http://www.vuestar.biz/faq.php <--- Im not using an image... please don't invoice me.
So, what these guys are claiming is that, if you attach a hyper link to an image, you are infringing their patents, and you have to pay them. That means, you cannot use a "<a href='../thatsMe.html'><img src='../mypicture.jpg'/></a>"
They are saying that its THEIR patented technology in US, Australia and Singapore. Funny, being a web-designer / web master for the last few years, I figured it was a W3C thing. Its like lesson 2 in HTML to link images.
A quick look at their original patent suggests otherwise. They a technology to use images to HELP LOCATE web pages generated from search engine results. This 'technology' "<a href='../thatsMe.html'><img src='../mypicture.jpg'/></a>" definitely does not belong to them.
So if you guys get invoiced for this BS, ignore it and be prepared to fight a lawsuit AND win.
Yeah, read that in The New Paper too.
Maybe they nothing better to do. Too much paper.
Their claims are really ridiculous.
Crazy. who actually pays them?
