hi this is my first post here.
my pc shutdown suddenly without warning when i was using it last night.
i restarted the computer and i managed to get to desktop but while it was still loading the startup programs it shutdown again.
i decided to restart in safe mode. after i pressed enter to startup in safe mode, it shutdown again while it was starting up.
i then opened up the casing... cleaned up some dust and checked the connections. i on the pc again and this time no problem and i managed to use it for more than an hour. i decided to leave the pc running through the night to make sure things are back to normal... running only my antivirus and utorrent.
this morning i woke up and found my pc still alive and i thought the problem was solved... then i used for like 15 mins it shutdown again.
recent changes to software:
- updating my antivirus program avast to v4.8
- installing IObit defrag program, which i have since uninstalled.
no changes to hardware... pc is self assembled about 10 mths old. running win XP, 2G ram and currently still downloading SP3 when this shyt started. did not experience any slowdown prior to this.
my guess is either the ram, ps or mobo. any other possibilities? i hope it is jus a case of faulty ram.. going back home to test them tonight.
i hope this is detailed enough and thanks for the help!
your computer gonna up the lorry riaos
seriously?! haven even celebrated its first bday yet!!
update: i thk i found the culprit... it's the cpu fan!
its full of dust and heat got trapped there leading to the problem. lesson learnt!
Good tht u saw it.Once very hot and dead,it could even lead the MOBO to die.
It's detailed enough.
I would say over heating is the cause of the problem.
