You!!
Yes you!!
The one reading this thread, look at your Cpu/ Laptop...
What do u see? Lots of Stickers? XP, Nividia? Vista? Centrino? Ect..
Yea, Ever wanted to know what these stickers meant? ever wanted to know which sticker comes before this? whichever is newer?
From this list, do u know which comes first? what do all the words mean
Well this is the thread for you.
Please read on....
Windows operating systems
Let's get the ball rolling...
Well, it brings back memories doesnt it, haha. This should be the first microsoft operating system that does with the case badge sticker. ( i remember windows 95 have) -- for the windows 98 operating system. Well, it looks exactly like the win95/98 boot screen do u agree?
Windows 2000 is up next!! Not much change. Except it's better designed, looks more professional than the 98 variant
I could not find the windows ME Case badge ( the time span that it was released was too short) , in anycase, i will try searching again.
Now for the most familiar badge, and the badge that almost everyone knows!
Mr "designed for Microsoft Windows XP", most OEM computers have them, most of you guys would recognise it!! The os that's not replaced by microsoft for the longest periods! XP!
This badge has 2 variants. The above and this:
A few months before the launch of Windows Vista, New sets of laptops comeout of the factory production line with these stickers proudly pasted on them. "windows vista capable"
What does it mean?
It just means that these though these sets are running xp, they meet the minimum requirements to run vista (home basic). Although the specs of these computers are quite "godly" if it runs xp.
Computers/ laptops having "premium ready" would suggest it is able to run the home premium/business/ultimate editions
Love it/ hate it, it's here to stay.. well the "latest" os offered by microsoft:
There are currently 4 variants ( 2 cpu badge, 2 devices certified) to this os
It seems that microsoft is out to discriminate those using home basic by giving them this cpu badge with -- Basic spelt on it.
Well for the premium/business/ ultimate, this is used
Devices:
Reserved.

hahas, me also =x
So confusing... especially the vista ones...
With the new Santa Rosa platform,i think Intel restructed the Centrino system and has done away with "Duo".
Old Centrino and Centrino Duo will be shown as New Centrino instead, with a red bottom instead of the familiar blue.
and =
This applies to all Merom and Penryn Core 2 Solo/Duo Processors.
If the Core 2 Duo comes with "enhanced security technologies"(from vPro),then it will be called Centrino Pro instead.
However,a minor updated happened shortly after and its now Centrino vPro
=
Starting from the Monevina Platform MY 2008,it will be Centrino 2.
And if it comes with "security and manageability features built-in technologies"(as with above),it will be Centrino 2 vPro.
Lastly, for the UMPC devices...they also have a Centrino category
