i am considering "upgrading" from vista to XP. dont ask why because i've already decided. what is the cost of an XP OS now?

this 1 not really up to the minute updated one..check out the pricelist @ VR-Z where the pricelist is updated with most of the outlets in sls...
Prices are always standard. It costs around $100++, depending on whether you want to buy Home or Pro.
If you already have an OEM disk, you can just use the OEM disk. Then call up Microsoft and tell them that you've bought a new machine, but you used the old disk. They will tell you how to re-activate again.
Please note that the OEM disk IS NOT from any PC manufacturers.

OEMs are cheaper as they generally do not have the fancy packaging.
Whether you have the full Retail Version or the OEM Version of a software program such as Windows XP, makes no difference to Microsoft. Both versions require you to submit an activation code -- even if you have the Retail Version and both offer support from microsoft.
