You have 2 choices.
A wireless router or just a router
A router splits the connections, thus it enables you to have one or more computers surfing at the same time
A wireless router serves the basic function like a normal router, however, it does away with all the cables. Esp great if you want your laptop in your room and your router is at the living room.
My recc: Get a wirelss router. ( it serves 2 purposes)
The cost: $40+ to $___
depending on the specs, the brand name ect.
I would recc you this brand netgear. or linksys

If you want to get wireless routers, I would advise against Linksys. Anything but Linksys.
