Yup..as stated above..of late my PC has been hanging quite randomly..sometimes when online sometimes when offline..somedays many times somedays hardly... Quite irritating esp when doing work halfway.. I brought it to Sim Lim to repair..the guy ran tests on motherboard and graphics card but all seems to be okay. I just scanned for virus today..almost finished than it hang..but until it hang got no virus. I'm using mio wireless for internet connection. My PC is AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 1.5GHz, 1.5GB RAM. OS is XP Home with Service Pack 2. Anyone there can help or advice..will appreciate it..tks in advance..
My laptop also like that... The solution suggested by IBM after I sent in my laptop was a fresh install of windows...
Only I haven't do yet cuz I got many things on the hard disk now and no time to back up properly.
1. Have you check for hard disk errors?
2. What programs have been installed and/or uninstalled recently?
3. How much hard disk space is left? What is the total amount of hard disk space you have?
I think the guy at sim lim did check the hard disks..i have two internal hdd..both 70GB and one external 320GB..all got quite alot space left. As for programs i think my PC started having this problem after i installed the mio wireless..is it possible tt tt is the prob?

hdd got sound?
nope...
Best way is to back up everything, reinstall windows
or u can try to do some defragment, or use the free up space on ur harddisk thing
im also on athlon xp, but is 2400+
Just wondering..is my PC's specs considered very slow and outdated? Is it sufficient to do video/photo editing?
Depends on what is your definition of slow... editing photos/videos on that specs will definitely be slow... if normal usage... it can't be as slow as a P2.
Outdated... I hardly call hardware outdated unless they are hard to get in the modern world.

should be... but if there's anything extremely important in D drive, back it up too. Don't risk it... Anyway you would need to back up your important documents often, whether you are reinstalling or reformatting a not.
