I've got something in my computer now that keeps prompting me through pop-ups to download rogue software from gateuq.com, securebowl.com and antispykit.com. At the moment I'm running full system scans using Norton and AVG...will they be enough to remove the root of the problem? What else do I need to do (other than the drastic re-formatting of my laptop)?

u got a adware.. they will keep poping out and keep duplicate itself. U have to stop the exe but its v tedious. Abt the curing part, only mayi can ans u.
Right now try with AVG, if ccan't then go download kaspersky or avast. If doesnt works i guess u ahve to format.
Perhaps u can go task manager and see if there's any program taking up alot of resources.

Rootkit ? I think Ad-Aware helps but I'm not too sure. Haven't got infected in months. I think you should try downloading hijackthis and post the results up here. Mayi should know what to do.

Could have been loaded by one those webbies that have ads. There has been a recent spate where users who have adequate protection being hit by viruses for no reason.
One reason traced - webbies that serve ads are being hijacked to do other stuffs.
