yep,i tried already, still no use.....i just now tried to reformat, also fail.....i put in the disk, shut down the laptop, wait for a while than turn on,still go back to the normal mode
try this
start->run->cmd
at the command prompt, type
ipconfig /all
then paste here.
Actually I'm just stabbing in the dark with no idea, but I think there's no harm trying.
Just to confirm, only FF managed to connect to the net right? The rest of the software no?

PROBLEM SOLVED! i unclick the proxy server thing than can work liao....thnx all for your suggestion, greatly appreciated ^^
I'm wondering if your tcp/ip settings are set to be automatic or not. It seems like you are connected to the router at SP, but from the SP website, the bottom values should be
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : sd.sp.edu.sg
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 172.X.X.X Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.192.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 172.X.X.X |
Are you using your home network or using network in school now?
Are you using XP or Vista now?

i think so,cause that guy plug in a lan cable to my laptop.....i think thats why the proxy server is being activated
This is the second time an SP student is having networking issues. How the heck did those admins configure laptops???
I wonder why they need a proxy to configure those laptops?

Yes,because the laptop originally came with OEM Vista so u have to go back to SP to flash XP image to the laptop.

Admins didnt configure the laptops,it was the member students of the Computer Club SP.
Abt the proxy, all i know is that they didnt opt to use the wireless network which was available.Maybe it was to install some hotfix, specifically the SPblock.exe file which some lecturer was talking about
