I realized that norton security scan is installed in my computer and I am unable to remove it simply through control panel - add/remove program. I tried installing the removal tool from their homepage but the "latest" download they have on the site is expired. Hence, i am unable to remove it through their uninstaller.
May I know if there's any other method to resolve this problem? Thanks.
please visit here,maybe can help you.

All the while Norton removal tool is here, unless your Norton is old.
Edit: Fixed link.
This is the notice i get from the removal tool.
Oasis, has your Norton expired?
erm actually, i have no norton installed. if i am not wrong, it came with the shockwave installation and uninstalling shockewave doesn't help.
can u give a full and complete picture of what exactly happened?
I don't remember Shockwave installing Norton??? All it does install is a Google toolbar.
Never installed any norton software, so most likely it's shockwave player that got that installed.
Can you post exactly what popped up when you tried uninstalling through the add/remove programs within the control panel?

It's not at all listed in add/remove program.
OK. I figure out your problem.
http://www.adobe.com/products/director/special/crossproduct/faq.html
As part of a recent distribution agreement with Symantec, Adobe will offer its customers the option to install the free Norton Security Scan software as part of the Shockwave Player installation process. Only customers who accept the Norton Security Scan offer will download the Norton Security Scan software. Those who decline the offer will download and install only Shockwave Player. Norton Security Scan is only offered to users who have either already downloaded the Google Toolbar or who are not eligible to receive the Google Toolbar offer.
Do you have Google Toolbar installed?
On another note... here's how my install looks like.
Sorry, but i don't have google toolbar installed if I am not wrong. The method below didn't seem to work out. I can't find it in the list.
- Is it possible to uninstall Norton Security Scan once it has been installed?
- Yes, you can uninstall it using Microsoft® Windows® Add or Remove Programs.

then how come you think it is installed? Is it because it is in the start->programs folder? Or anything?
One way we can do is to manually remove it instead of looking around for an uninstaller
How about hacking into the registry or the bowels of C:\ drive?Im sure Mayi'll know how to do this

How old is your OS?
Just delete the folder and scan the registry with a tool like toni arts.

Yea, saw it in the list of programs. Besides that, it sometimes launches itself to do some occasional scanning.

If Kenn3th's one doesn't work, try the following:
Do what Alucard says
1st step:
Delete the folder.
To find the folder, go to start->program->{your norton thingy's startup}
right click->properties
The folder will be listed in Target
Then you open windows explorer to go to the folder and manually delete
After deleting, delete it from your start
To do so, go to start->program->{your norton thingy's startup}
right click->delete
You might need to delete one by one.
