Anyone knows if there is a way to let users install East Asian Fonts without using the Windows XP SP2 installation CD?
I want my users to be able to view unicode chinese characters...and I cannot assume they have Office XP(and above) installed...I also cannot assume they have access to Windows XP SP2 CD.
I tried installing the Office XP Language Packs and the Global IME for both Simplified and Traditional Chinese but they dun work(see pic). I just need users to see the text...dun really need to input them.
I know the issue can be solved by downloading some 3rd party sofware like NJStar but I was wondering if there is a simpler way to just install the chinese fonts in and use them...I dont mind 3rd party software but...I dont need the input ability...I need the output capability...so there is no reason for me to bulk up the size of my application just for the input ability which I am not going to use.
Anyone?

First link I've given is for those without access to Windows CD. Download the language packs that you want and install.
LOL... ang moh OS Notepad can't handle Unicode. That's why you see all the square boxes.
Start > Control Panel, double click on Regional and Language Options.
Select Advanced tab.
Change the Language for non-Unicode programs to Chinese (PRC) for Simplified Chinese, Chinese (Taiwan) for Traditional Chinese.

Tried.cannot work...I cannot install it because I am using Windows XP
From the site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/recommended/ime/install.mspx
Note: Microsoft Global IME 5.02 is for users who are running Windows Me, Windows 98, Windows 95, or Windows NT 4.0 and not running Office XP.
I am not running Office XP...but my OS dun fall into the categories above.

Technically the ang moh Notepad can handle Unicode...just that the language packs have to be installed in the Regional and Language section and this part will require the Windows CD...which the user will not have....so I tot of including a download from Microsoft or anywhere else(preferably some simple freeware) to help users with this issue but it seems like its not working out well...
Anyone?
Technically, it can. But I think it refuses to give support. Even after changing the system settings, the default saving settings show ANSI. Vista ang moh Notepad has the support though...
Your problem - hmm... got to look around further.
