NEED Help On Internet Explorer With My Laptop.. THANKS!!

HELLO everyone.. i currently bought a new acer laptop.. when i connect it either wireless or non wireless to the internet rite.. it can work.. but it juz cannot surf websites and MSN.. It can function to battle.net(online game) and play online games as well as internet reversi,checkers etc... which means theres internet connection rite ?? But why it juz cant surf websites and MSN and other stuffs!!! when i double click internet explorer.. it juz shows that '' this website cannot be display''.. for every website that i went to. so sad.. can any1 help me or tell me wad to do?? i suspect its firewall but i dunnno how to solve... pls help me ah... thanks alot everyone..

How to get firefox or opera ?? btw i still prefer MSIE and i hope some1 can tell me a solution to solve the problem.. THANKS!! i suspect is firewall or somethng but dunno how to solve.. any experts over there can assist ? ty

In Command Prompt, type in ping yahoo.com and press Enter.

So is this the ping results from your laptop or the other computer? The results show that the computer you pinged from is able to connect to yahoo.com.

If the results is from your laptop, then internet connections are fine.
What security programs are installed on your laptop?
What version of IE are you using?

I think that would the way to solve the problem. It could be that the internet connection in IE was not properly set up and thus it is trying to retrieve sites using different methods...

i did as wad u all said and the results is from my laptop.. i hand copied it here. My IE is verison 7.0.6000.16608!! and i nvr install any security programme.. onli something called ''VirusScan On-Access Scan is enabled'' which is alrdy install when i bought the laptop.. anyway i bought it from Singapore Poly. haha!
How do i check my proxy settings? and can teach me how to set it correctly so i can surf internet ??

oh ya juz to add on.. when i tried another method which windows microsoft provide.. the results are different!! Windows microsoft told me to type ''ping the 1st ip address under primary DNS servers'' and when i do so.. the results are shown...
Packets: Sent=4 , received=0 , Lost=4(100% loss).. when this result appear.. micrsoft told me tat i wasnt connected to internet.. its so ridiculos.. if i am not connected to internet then how come i can play online games and standard games like internet reversi,checkers etc.. THIS IS SO STRANGE... any experts can help out?? thanks alot.. treat u coffee .. haha

Type in ipconfig /all and press Enter

Yaaa... after i typed ''ipconfig /all'' .. it shows alot of ip address lor.. u nid me to hand copied it over here again ?? for the sake of my laptop.. im willing.. hahahaha jk. so if nid me copy tell me..

Acer laptop comes with Norton Firewall which tends to block some programs like msn etc. and my advise to you is that you try to turn it off which eventually might slove your problem or if not try calling their technical support hotline but I tell you this if you call them, do it in the morning if not you will end up waiting ages for their operator to pick up.
Lastly it is quite common you encounter such issue as Acer quality is not that good since they are cheap and they belong to low end side, my friends who bought acer regretted because they had to service their laptop quite often.

Well, dont suan Acer before the all evidence are produced. Firewall and DNS would practically have no link.

Well Abao, if u want edvidence you can ask around those poly students who use acer or get yourself a job in acer and u know the truth coz i just left e company last month and when u get in there, u will know how bad they are and how many people wanting to complain them to CASE. :)

when i TRY to use other ppl de wireless rite.. the results shows tat i sent 4 packets and received 4 packets and lost 0 packets.. which means im connected to internet... but still i double click IE still page cannot be display.. very fedup wor.. and err i tried to surf www.google.com then it shows a new error.. so cool eh. it shows tat website is invalid and the address from ''http://www.google.com'' becomes ''http:///' .. strange sia.. omg my com really sucky

Eh... everything looks wrong.
If you can play Windows Internet games, then you should have an IP address.
But with your modem, it shows 0.0.0.0.
How you connect your modem? How you connect your router?
