I tried to manage my User accounts. Then there's this pop up asking me to type in my username and password. I typed them in,then suddenly it says " Requested operation requires elevation" What do they mean by that???
I suppose they mean the username and password you have typed in is for an account which doesn't have required privileges to manage user accounts. You'll probably need to sign in with an administrator account instead.
I suppose you are using Vista. In Vista, all users by default are running as normal users. Whenever a program needs to gain more privileges, this will pop up. Depending on the action, different windows will be seen. Most common one is the User Access Control window.
If you are an administrator, just type in and continue. By default, most are.
how to make the admin thingy??
To check if u are an admin:
control panel -- user accounts -- look under your user name and look if you are an administrator
To turn on user account control.
control panel -- user accounts -- turn user account control on or off.
My domain is my sch. I tried to turn on the user accnt control but again the same thing happens again:asked me to type in username and password, then after that it says Requested operation requires elevation AGAIN.
Is UAC turned ON or OFF?
One fine day if RP network tio virus again, I'm going to blast them.
I cant acess to UAC to check whether its on or not. It kept asking me to type in my password and username, then it says the elevation thingy again.
Then most likely UAC is turned on.
If UAC is turned on, there will be shields next to quite a lot of things.
Example screenshot:
Just type in your username and password to continue. The wonders of Vista.
Ya i typed it in. then it says the elevation thingy over and over again

there's ntg under my username. but it says my domain is RP. and,how to make me an administrator?
You are in a domain. You can't make yourself an administrator.
Unless RP makes the changes. Best is to contact RP.
Darn. Then will they help me out? Or they wont allow it???
Not likely they will allow it. After all, to be in a Windows domain means to be managed by the head aka the administrator of RP.
If RP sees no need to make the changes, I doubt they will. Since most likely you have already installed the programs you needed for your education.

For now, I don't think so.
Anyway, can you install programs without problems?
If no problems, then it's fine. I think they lock down some stuffs via Group Policy.
I cant install anything like live msn or firefox. They keep asking me to key in username and stuffs which again the elevation thingy will come out again. haish
I PM you the details see if it helps for you.
Don't leak those details out or I know who to find.
so how mayi now?? =( I cant install but can dwnload.
Check your mail box.
If nothing works, do a full system recovery. If unsure, post up the model number of your laptop.
After that, will need to bring back to RP to join domain.
