When is it the official SP 1 to be released?
it has already been released to manufacturers.
however, to consumers, i would gauge it 2 to 3 weeks from now.
heard it can also be downloaded thru periodic updates thru Windows updates...
once released, it can be downloaded thru windows update
filesize??
For those who have automatic updates turned on and your PC didn't crash after the February automatic updates, you should be using Vista SP1 now.
The reason is simple. Microsoft removed the patch for Vista SP1 after it crashed a lot of PCs. Those who are lucky and survived the patch will be fine and Vista SP1 should be downloaded and installed automatically for you.
Those whose PCs that didn't survive the patch, then my condolences. If you reinstalled Vista, Microsoft have already removed the update, so you won't get the patch at all.
The patch is only downloadable via MS website now, manually. It's not available via Windows Update anymore.
Although Vista SP1 is already released to manufacturers, I haven't seen one installed with Vista SP1.
Microsoft estimates that Vista SP1 will be released in mid-March. I believe that this deadline is still valid despite the bad crashes.
Filesize is about several hundred megabytes...
It has some major improvements.U can get it as of now,if u know where to look.
Major improvements or not, there's no hurry to get one if it's unstable on some PCs.

I would caution and advice those who wish to download sp1 to wait for the more stable release.
it's out now i think. i saw it in my update. should i accept?
See the list of incompatible drivers here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343#method5
then go and see if you have them @ device manager
Update them from the manufacters website then install sp1.
If you can see it, most likely you can update to SP1. If you don't want to risk anything, you can skip it for the moment. It's not really needed, since MS will still patch systems without SP1.
Service packs is just an all-in-one package of updates.
Until MS decides otherwise, whether you want SP1 is up-to-you.

I assume his shock detecter is Fujitsu's.
Fujitsu Shock Sensor can sense any shock(hence its name) to the laptop,as in sudden move and retract the HDD writer device so that the HDD wont be scratched.

try finding drivers via fuji and update it. An updated pack should come by now.
Or install sp1 and ignore it.
