hi all. I just changed a graphics card. previous one being 4x AGP and this is 8x.
I went into my BIOs but i cant find any function that states i can change from 4x to 8x leh... is it auto one?
also, AGP aperture in my BIOs meaning what? can choose 64mb, 128mb etc one.
Should be automatic.
AGP aperture size refers to the amount of your system's RAM you would like to allocate to your graphics card which is used when its own memory has ran out.

New problem. when i mouse scroll - etc, a webpage, the screen looks funny... as if its refreshing with each scroll. this isnt happening with my old and cheapo graphics card. anyone knows why?
You need to install drivers for your graphics card.
got leh... install le... but then hor last time i use VGA... now is DVI
The mode of connection dsnt matter. It's probably driver.Try running a simple benchmark to see graphics performance.
lol after so long.... finally solved it. my previous card was nvidia and now its ati.
I believe its due to the conflicting issues between the 2 makers.
Share with u guys what i did.
1) control panel > remove all ATI and nvidia items > restart
2) system> hardware manager > uninstall all video card items >restart
3) Run driver cleaner program to clear all stray drivers from the 2 makers.
4) install fresh drivers
5) grab some sleep
sry, want to get a AGP grpahics card too, is there any difference between a 4x and 8x card? i mean, if i buy a 8x, will my computer support it?
then which card is better? i just need it to play a few games...not serious gamer though. need to play game like fifa08/world in conflict/RA3
Whether your computer supports it will depend on how old your motherboard is.
Anything more than 5 years old, the chance of it supporting an AGP 8x graphics card is quite low.
Most now use PCI-e card.
nvm, i think i start new thread, dun hijack this.

haha its ok. anyway, you can adjust 4x or 8x through the graphics card controller under display settings.
And as what mayi have said, the next gen is PCIe. So i dont recommend that u surge on an AGP... or else u may have trouble letting it go.
I bought a 2nd hand 128mb 9600XT Pro with tv out and DVI for $30. good enough for me for the time being.
actually its for my PC la >.> its old thats why can only get AGP...lols
yupz lol.. my pc is old also.. and only have AGP.
Planning to upgrade next year... so i'll be selling this graphics card away then .. probably without lost
