1gb no use one. Some stuff like movies, psp game files easily take up more than 1gb space.
Of course no one stores movies in thumbdrives.
They store them in hdds.

You will use up the lifespan of the thumbdrive very fast if you do this very often.

After lots of usage, electromigration might cause damage to the gate oxide irreversibly. The gate oxide might have a fixed charge, or there might be induced interface charges... Something like that...
In addition, the manufacturers of the flash memory modules usually guarantees the assemblers a maximum of 10000 read write cycles. The assemblers will assemble the modules on the PCB and test it out.
10000 might seem a lot, but if you transfer movies continuously, you will use them out very fast.
err u all got new thumbd rives liao.. how about your old old 258MB thumb drives.. wanna donate? :D:D:D:D:D:D

"..............a flash device that is rated at 100,000 write cycles doesn't mean it wears out after as many uses. It means it can write 100,000 times "to every single (memory) cell within the device........"

oh ya 100k
But transferring movies to and fro uses a lot of memory cells at one time.
Actually not really the memory chip that spoil, but rather, the 'switch' that powers the device will spoil... You see for most thumbdrives that spoil, the LED light indicating power is on is spoiled.
My ancient 128mb thumb drive still stand strong.
4 years.
Dropped it lots of times. got soaked in the washing machine. and it endured the throwings at the customs.
