if $$$ is not a problem, go for lenovo. sturdee and upgrade friendly.
if $$$ is a problem, hp/compaq.
yea, i never suggest acer to my clients.
sony...nice on the outside but experienced once with my client - keyboard spoilt, still under warranty, sent in, they said its no longer in production. LL use an external keyboard and use as a PC.
how bout fujitsu or toshiba?
Toshiba has got heat problems, which until now is not resolved. Not trying to ruin their business or what, but after walking around some laptop shops selling Toshiba laptops, I still find that they are freaking warm despite being in an air-conditioned room.
Fujitsu is good, but prices may not be to everyone's liking.
As for Dell... no comments. Since the bad battery incident, I'm seeing improvements. Good for Dell. You heard your customers.
Acer... either it lasts beyond the warranty given or it dies after the warranty ends.
NEC... not many people using, but I don't hear much complaints either.
HP/Compaq... quite good in my opinion. Same for Packard Bell. Although Packard Bell laptops specs aren't that attractive.
Sony laptops - some have great specs, but they also come at great costs. Even some lower end ones also cost pretty much, perhaps due to the branding.
As for Macs... no idea. tamago will know more... see what he has to say.
buy tablet pc
Asus.
Lenovo's Thinkpad series, HP/compaq laptops , Fujitsu
acer........is no good imo
no matter wat jz dun get HP/compaq... their customer service is shit...
hdd spoil often oso...
So far OK for me leh... but I wouldn't speak too fast. Haha... My Acer spoilt after 1.5 years... for Acer... their mobos suck. Spoilt easily...
sometimes computer parts is heng suay... if urs can last then consider lucky cos their failure rate much much higher than dell...
sometimes u must know how to maintain ur lappy as well
Apple! Sleek, sexy, and makes the user look cool
IBM-Lenovo. Good quality, powerful, light and hardy. But makes the user look so uncool
i've been using my apple powerbook since late 2004 and till now it has not given me any problems...
i'm planning to get either Asus or Dell for the IT show
lol i am using a Fujitsu...
good
go for hp/compaq bah... for now dell do not have a services centre in singapore yet...
Apple just upgraded the processor speeds of the MacBook and MacBook Pro line-ups. And the price had dropped a bit, compared to the price i paid. Relatively easy to use, software like Office or iWorks quite cheap also, considering i'm still a student.
Lenovo/IBM would be good as well, a few of my frens are using it, its quite good, T61. A few said problems lies with Vista and not the laptop itself. Many windows-compatitable apps may not work on Vista.
Cheers!
Dun ever buy lenovo product. I got so much problem with them + no QC one. Me using Fujitsu S series and Toshiba Dynabook, very good laptops so far no problems. Why lenovo sux? cos i am a system engineer. I had customers who bought lenovo laptops and till now they have this and that problem. always must call the tech support to come. Waste time. If die die must buy lenovo. ONLY got for the X series. Good luck in choosing your laptop.
Lenovo laptops with the IBM logo at the bottom right hand corner means it's still under IBM. Most notably are those Thinkpad series. The quality assurance is there.
Those Lenovo Y and N series are not. They are made and marketed by Lenovo.

For Acer, I remembered my desktop and my gf desktop (older versions) start to have problems quite fast... As for laptop, my sis's Acer laptop had problems within a year plus of using (hard disk crash).
But as my uncle said, if you have the time, buy Acer laptops (cuz they are very cheap for their specs) and extend the warranty.
