I can't sign in and my virus software keeps showing me messages saying there's something wrong with: win32/vmalum.bxrf
help! I know nothing about computers!
Are you using CA (Computer Associates) eTrust antivirus?
yes mayi, I'm using CA....dunno about the eTrust bit though.
Ah... that's the problem then.
No idea how to solve this though.
Does CA has a whitelist of programs? Perhaps you could add it in. eTrust is CA Antivirus name.
don't know about a whitelist....my CA isn't new so why suddenly would I have this problem? I restored my pc to March 1st and I get the same infected file message
What version of MSN are you using? Maybe updating it could help. If it's the latest, I send you a link for the beta version of MSN.
See if that helps.
it's 7.5 if I'm not mistaken... I had installed a newer version before and didn't care for it but maybe I need to reinstall it.
yes, please send the link
Ed, I used to have AIM and still do have YIM...thing is most of my contacts are on MSN.
I deleted messenger and tried reinstalling 5 times and it always fails!
the lastest 8.5 version will always failed if u uninstall a previous version.
It won't work even if u installed back a previous version (8.1 for me at least)
So i'm using 8.1 at work now :)
worse come to worst, you could use online messenging first
hmm. i mentioned i install 8.1 yesterday at work.
So this morning i came in work and login as usual, the messenger prompts that a new messenger is available and asks if i want to upgrade.
So i click it to install the new messenger which managed to install properly now :)
So you might want to try again this way :P
skid, try this alternative to MSN - http://www.amsn-project.net/
thanks for your help and suggestions everyone.
Mayi,. so far I haven't been able to reinstall Messenger....i'll give that latest link a try.
you could try ebuddy too.
no installation needed.
Need help here, i can't log in to my msn messenger.Tried uninstalling and installing the latest version.Gives me the error code 81000306.But i'm connected to the internet with no problems.Used their troubleshooting tools, no problems found either.Much help appreciated. Thanks
Most likely a internal server error..u can wait or try to Yahoo for the error code which will bring u to some solutions. However its kinda complex and require registry modification
hmm internal server error, can you elaborate?I did googled for the error code and there are tonnes are solutions.I have checked my windows firewall and msn is not blocked.I can't sign in to windows messenger also. This is really frustrating....
Internal server error means the server which you are assigned to is down. There are quite a few MSN servers, and just coincidentally, the one which you are signing in to is down.
I only can say that you need to wait. In the mean time, try online ones. They should work if you have important things to do.
Try an online scan at bitdefender.it can clean most of the viruses.
woot!
I was finally able to reinstall MSN Mesenger yesterday.
