Hi guys. Please do forgive this noob for asking this simple question. I'm planning on signing up for one of those wireless internet plans, but I'm still quite new to it. I'm just wondering, which service provider should I use?
Starhub
M1
Singtel
I'm looking something that has a wide coverage with more than decent download speeds.
what service provider are you using now?
when you mean wireless internet plans, do you mean setting up a wireless network in your home.
if so, and you have a internet connection at home, then you can just buy a router to set it up yourself.
although if you are thinking of jumping ship to either starhub or singnet.
for now, the deals at the singnet side are more attractive.
10mbps unlimited broadband:
Actually u are paying more $20++ more for the 13inch mac book / pc
For starhub side:
8000kbps/12k kbps/ 100k kbps
FREE Sony DVD Handycam
Hi kenn3th
Actually I was thinking of going Wireless as in, really wireless; like connected anywhere in Singapore wireless. You see, I'm always on the move (onsite technician) and I always like to stay connected, or at least be able to most of the time while I'm onsite. Usually while I'm onsite I would just plug in my laptop into their server and start tapping (for work of course) directly from their console. Other than that, I'd be stuck at the office; i.e Alert Amber, awaiting to be activated. And unfortunately, there is nothing to tap into at the office so I'm left... unconnected. ^_^ I'm quite interested in those wireless services thats being provided by the 3 service providers; mainly Singtel, M1 and Starhub. Its just that I'm not sure which service providers would actually give me a more bang for my buck...
http://www.singnet.com.sg/plans_and_services/broadband/snbb.asp?snbb=10MatlBundle (fusing home broadband and island wide broadband, quite cheap in my opinion)
read up on this sites
Sh's speed. Mobile Broadband Modem supports up to 7.2Mbps (download) and 1.9Mbps (upload).
mobileone offers the slowest speed in the comparison.
Thanks kenn3th. I'm quite interested in Starhub's offering. Not quite sure with Singtel though. And obviously not M1.
Singnet not worth it...30 months contract for an ageing Mac model and a PC which HWZ members said can be DIY-ed for cheaper.
singtel vodafone tt one loh
m1 oso not bad lah
but i think now got wifi@sg everywhere.... dun relli need to sign up for those on-the-go broadband, unless u are toking about wanting to surf when u in cab, on bus, in train.....but is the price worth it?
Actually, I've been hopping around for quite a while. Price-wise, M1 is totally out of the question; although it is quite attractive, its contracts ends quite fast. I'm not quite sure with Singtel, and the offering from Starhub does seem abit better than the 3. ^_^ all I need now is assurance. Has anybody used Starhub's wireless contracts before? Hows the connectivity?
I had tried starhub, singtel and M1 wireless 3G broadband.
so far I notice the most stable one is singtel, next is starhub followed by M1.
currently I am using M1 coz I don't have to maintain a line in order to use internet.
Unlike starhub and singtel, broadband is a value added service and you need to maintain a line.
I will recommend Starhub if you don't want to spend time troubleshooting a bad Singnet connection. I will guarantee that you will be so pissed off that you want to cancel the contract.
No thanks to Singnet for not publishing the details.
i had some bad experience with singtel when configuring the 3G wireless and GPRS.
it is not very easy coz the person that is handling is not IT trained and they just follow instructions given to them.
i had to go a big circle to get the userid and password.
the reason is because they are not suppose to release the password.
if you are lucky u and speak to the right person then u will get the userid and passwrod.
Ahaaaaaaaaaaaa... many thanks guys. Points noted.
