dunno y all i see is squares squares. i cant find the chinese language in the "text services and input languages" either. do i need to download certain things to enable me to view those charaters?
For viewing Chinese characters on a web page, all you need is to have the required font files within your computer and your browser should auto-detect the encoding of the web page and display it accordingly.
For viewing them on other applications, you may need to adjust some settings on your computer. Go to Start > Control Panel > Date, Time, Language and Regional Options > Regional and Language Options > Advanced, under the Language for non-Unicode programs, set it to Chinese (PRC).
And if you don't find anything related to the Chinese language under the choices of input methods, it's most probably that it is not installed. Try checking the boxes under the Supplemental language support and they should prompt you to insert the Windows XP disc in order to install the necessary files once you click on the OK button.
