Okay, I nearly had the panic of the lifetime. My laptop (Vista) refused to boot for unknown reasons.
I press the power button, i see the POST screen for a while, and as soon as its done, it shuts down on its own. I checked the BIOS, and it could detect my HDD fine ( though i still suspect it.).
Checked with a friend, and he said it could be my laptop mobo itself.
Saw SGForums, and noticed the Vista bug. So it could be Vista preventing the boot as well. ( Any clearer symptoms of this?)
I'm this |--| close to ordering a new laptop, but im almost dead broke.. argh.
is the battery charged?
Yes, its charged. Not fully but more than 3/4.
Gonna try removing the battery n run on AC. Might be a shorted battery.
I can't tell. If you have the Vista installation disc, boot up to it, choose restore previous point, that's if you have system restore turned on.
Will try that once i get into office on monday, meantime, im gon a try boot a linux and see if it crashes on me as well.
Sigh.. cant even boot properly. Sometimes i dun even see the POST screen already switch off itself liao..
Can't see POST... not even the laptop brand logo?
Nope, not even the laptop brand logo. Its quite dependent on luck actually. Sometimes I see POST, sometimes I don't and its turns off itself. I seriously suspect that the hardware has reached the end of its lifespan. What are the parts I can strip out of a laptop besides the RAM and HDD?
Warranty?
I dont think it has reached it's life span yet.

sounds abit like my problem with my computer.. =/
Its out of warranty since its about 3 years old. There is no way I can attempt a system restore for now, so I removed the harddrive, backed up the stuff in it, and gonna try to reformat it off my other computer. See how it goes.
