What's the different between Athlon and Turion? Which one is newer version or faster? Please don't provide me links because I read liao still dont understand....

Think in terms pentium 4 processors in the older laptops
Turion is a mobile technology developed by AMD after the seperon. These processors have better battery and power usage and are more suited for laptops.
THink in terms of the pentium M processors, Centrion which are all for laptops.
Speed wise both should be the same. If you compare in terms of Ghz.
Newer versions, if you count by release date it would be Turion.
But Turion and Athlon processors have now been updated, to Turion 64x2 and Athlon 64x2 processors. (Think core duo).
Thus in short, one is a general processor while the other is more for portable processors. -

The 64 there means it's a 64-bit processor.
This also means 2 things
1. More RAM could be added (provided it's supported by mobo)
2. You can use a 64-bit OS (XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit, Linux 64-bit, etc)
What works in 64-bit WILL NOT work in 32-bit, but what works in 32-bit MAY work in 64-bit. -

I plan to buy this one but the specs pretty lame abit although I'm not good at computer. But if I only use it for some programming, DotA and watch movies, do you think it's ok or not worth it at all? But the design is killing me....... -

Turion 64x2 is a complete name by Amd. Processors with "64x2" are dual core and are 64bit. and it can run x86 too.

Design wise yes :oops:Specs wise, no. Vista home premium and 1gb ram is a nono, the 2gb ram is just right for vista, but price wise it would be different.
I m currently using Amd's Turion 64x2 1.8ghz Processor, and i m running on 1gb ram. I can surely say that my laptop cant play much games without lagging. Due to vista. Thus with 1.6ghz, it's a nono for even dota.

I plan to upgrade the RAM to 3gb at least if I'm using Vista. 2gb for XP is I manage to install XP. So I don't think can lag kua...cuz I'm using P4 512 ram XP for DotA also smooth. So hopefully can successfully install XP. -

p4 how many ghz?but do note that if your upgrade ram it is going to cost much more if you do it at the dealer +++
have you considered the sony vaio pc ?

P4 2.53ghz and 512ddr only.....
