I have a big problem. Using Windows XP and got a blue screen suddenly. And now it can't boot. normal mode... safe mode, recover console,... anything. Also if I put the hard drive in another computer then that computer doesn't boot either.... and always the same blue screen with this error...
ERROR 0x00000024
NTFS.SYS
and it says... check the disk with CHDSK /F to repair the problem.... but I can't because I can't access to anything to do a CHKDSK...
Worst thing is previously I was already facing the various blue screen of deaths like 7b and etc. But I just tried to chuck it under the carpet and procrastinate.
Now, my only concern is can I recover the files? Should I find a pc repair person or try to diy self fix? If latter, how should I go about doing it? What's the problem - corrupted hdd or other hardware e.g. ram?
Help much appreciated!!!
Do you have Windows XP CD?
have.. but pirated. tried doing so.. primary boot as dvd drive... cant even get to command prompt or anything then blue screen.
Boot up to the Windows CD, pirated or not.
Press R to boot to Recovery Console.
Log in to the Administrator account.
Username - Administrator
Password - Usually blank.
You will see something like C:\Windows >
Type in the following line by line, then press Enter after each line.
cd system32\dllcache
copy ntfs.sys "%windir%\system32\drivers\"
Check if there are any errors
If no errors, type in exit and press Enter to restart the computer
See if it works.
noted. will try when i get home. mayi... you know roughly what's the fault? act i also asked you about the blue screen error before in the past. but i didnt go rectify? called a pc repair man once but he just open up my cpu do some simple check charge me $20. ^@^#%#$!@$!.
should i change my hardware or get a new cpu altogether?
Since you are able to point out a driver, I think it's the driver that has corrupted. Hopefully, getting this driver to Windows main folder will get your PC up and running.
After that, the other issues will be dealt with one by one. If it still doesn't work, get a legal Windows CD, boot up and repair Windows. Still not possible, might be a hardware fault.
exasperated. i thought i was lucky that i managed to load windows recovery then finally loaded xp well and good. scanned for anti virus with avg and it hanged with blue screen. now it can load all the way to desktop but on loading at desktop, hangs with blue screen again
Stop: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0x806357F1, 0xEB5QE99C, 0x0000000000)
prompted to me load in safe mode, do some caching, disable some hardware.
i really dont know how to proceed. tried to load windows xp recovery, did chkdsk /r and still the same problem.
